Lana and the feminist nightmare

Lana Del Muther Funkin Rey - isn't this girl getting getting some hype at the moment, much of it consisting of vitriolic flak. To be honest I'm a Lana fan boy. Criticism that she's manufactured and talentless doesn't fly with me on the basis that Lana Del Rey's music is simply straight up pop. No one criticises Rhianna for being manufactured because it's expected. Although given the coquettish tone of the album I can understand why feminists might hate her - every song is about falling in love with some coked up bad boy, twirling around a Route 66 motel room in her little red dress, following him around the county.

The below song is probably the pick of her album for me. If she sat in the room while the team of major label hired producers wrote the whole bloody thing, who gives a fuck. Even if we accept that her contribution was minimal, she still clearly has more talent than most of us. DD
