Studying for my PHD

The Avalanches album is coming out sometime fucking never so in the meantime let me share some other sample based music to wet your whistle. This is a mixtape called Studying For My PhD by Marques Toliver, a dude who I've been following since he played down the house at Splendour last year. In this mixtape he somehow manages to make a cohesive album statement despite using a ridiculously diverse range of samples - Nicki Minaj to Al Green to news reports from the time of the London riots. It's Avalanches-like in its eccentricity, but fuck he nails it. The mixtape is available here. DD
